A Difficult Year

A couple of men up to their ears in debt are offered free food and find themselves coopted into joining a group of guileless climate activists.

In a crazy, mixed-up and lengthy production, "A Difficult Year" grapples with a difficult subject, the wilful actions of protesters in the name of an important global cause. It's hard to see which side the movie is taking by mocking the sincerity of the would-be revolutionaries as they plan their next awareness-raising disruption. While climate action is its theme, this movie wants to be liked and diverts into a rom-com - fun to watch - but without taking a strong stance, the plot is a little aimless. Some like it hot.
