Babygirl is a bold, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, erotically charged and playful exploration of power and risk taking. The plot gives gender roles and expectations a good twist, this is intelligent filmmaking steered by a director irreverent enough not to take herself too seriously. Characters are well-cast with the actors excelling in roles as complicated people who allow their libidos to drive them. As torrid as the central affair may be, their relationship is honest more than manipulative. What's love got to do with it?
