The Pope is dead and his seat is vacant. Cardinals travel from around the world to the Vatican City to appoint a new one.

Conclave is a thriller even without a lot of physical action, men in formal robes are sequestered in a room until they come to a consensus and elect a new pope. There's plenty of intrigue and drama to hold down the plot and keep audiences engrossed. The cast fully inhabits their roles as polished camera work creates scenes with an appropriate touch of the ethereal, with plotting characters gliding from one secretive conversation to another. There's enough mystery revealed to reinforce the need for faith. Amazing grace.
