Twin corrupt emperors have a stranglehold on Rome. In an effort to distract the angry masses, they hold a series of gladiator battles for entertainment in the Colosseum.

Gladiator II is an epic production that endeavours to improve on its predecessor and succeeds in almost every aspect. The plot is brimming with political intrigue, blackmail, betrayal, vengeance and brutality, and the capable cast play their roles well, held back only by the bland dialogue they're obliged to deliver. Both inside and outside of the arena the battle sequences are well choreographed and executed, with the naval battle a standout both in its existence and ludicrousness. Strength and honour.
