Herman J. Mankiewicz has a broken leg, a drinking problem, and a deadline for the completion of the first draft of the script for Citizen Kane.

The fondly remembered "Golden Age" is authentically depicted in old-time black and white, with a soundtrack and rhythm lifted (almost) directly from the era. It's amusing how little has changed; overblown media moguls and self-important studio heads do what they invariably do, all hung with shiny stars-in-the-making. If you're not a classic movie buff expect to be stymied by the world of "Mank" which is, by turns, superb, uneven, and confounding. Hit and myth.
