Riviera Revenge

A retired French general discovers that his wife had an affair forty years ago, and he travels to the Côte d’Azur to avenge his honour.

"Riviera Revenge" is not to be taken seriously with its exaggeration of a domineering husband. If you dial it back a little, you might be left with something to think about; the premise is amusing, but the implications of the husband's actions are alarming. The plot is funny in an only-joking sense, mostly because the underlying jealousy and sense of marital ownership are nothing to laugh at. Love me, love only me
