Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are back, teaming up to face their toughest rival yet: the mysterious Shadow.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 sticks to the franchise philosophy of introducing new characters, but the ever-expanding roster fails to add any spark to a story that trudges along without much flair. Fans might chuckle at the in-jokes and unashamedly adult gags, though younger viewers may feel left out. Heartfelt moments occasionally shine through, reminding us of the importance of friendship and collaboration, but they’re few and far between. Sonic's latest adventure has its fun, but lacks the energy of its predecessors and any truly standout moments. Middling and forgettable.
