The Brutalist
Drama
Lazlo Toth is a renowned architect of the Brutalist movement who makes his way to America as a Hungarian immigrant and survivor of WW2.
The Brutalist is filled with allegory and symbolism captured with creative camera work, and the movie is a work of art. The production is so ambitious in its scope and runtime that while watching the onscreen spectacle, it's hard to know if this is the story of a tortured artist, a haunted refugee, a Jewish holocaust survivor, or a driven and devoted architect. The film is all these things while being atypical of an immigrant experience. A monumental work of fiction, in dire need of a narrative blueprint. Arthouse avant-garde.
