A ruthless business tycoon with a private jet, accompanied by his daughter, a nun, is trying to raise money for a business scheme while trying to avoid assassination.

"The Phoenician Scheme" is recognisably the work of a talented director whose films can hit as often as they miss. The plot, such as it is, is as thin as it is preposterous. The action is goofy, with well-constructed sight gags, the director's signature deadpan characters, and vivid sets. It's all played out by an extraordinary all-star cast that fills substantive roles and appear in playful cameos. Watching the magnate's exploitations - making as many money deals as enemies - is insufficiently entertaining. Help yourself to a hand grenade...
