Two to One

A communist community discovers a stash of soon-to-be-defunct Ostmarks from East Berlin in a bunker and schemes to convert millions into Deutschemarks and spend their way into capitalism.

"Two to One" is based on true events, and knowing that background makes the movie all the more interesting to watch. The cast plays out the story as a caper of a commune testing their luck; they're up to shenanigans rather than driven by serious criminal intent. The action bounces along - perhaps the stakes feel a bit low to create any real danger, and without much knowledge of the era, some finer points may be lost. Mostly on the mark.
