SFF: Under the Tree

In Reykjavik, a troubling dispute starts on a street where one family has a tree in their yard and their neighbours live in its shadow.

When an argument erupts, actions and retaliations escalate just as they do in real life; only in this film version, things become increasingly bizarre. "Under the Tree" is a savage sort of comedy. The protagonists are intelligent but get locked into certain behaviours they're unable to step away from, as happens in intimate domestic situations. The tragedy underscoring various situations is credible, holding audience interest even with mouths agape. Everybody needs good neighbours.
