When Fall Is Coming

Michelle is a loving grandmother, but her relationship with her daughter deteriorates further after she serves a lunch of foraged mushrooms that leaves her hospitalised.

Wild mushrooms for lunch sound delicious, but wild mushrooms can be dangerous and even deadly, with no simple way to determine edibility other than eating them, as one lunch guest unfortunately finds out. "When Fall is Coming" is an interesting movie, managing to be dark and mysterious around a suspected murder. It exudes genuine warmth in some relationships between characters, while others are tense and unhappy with one another. All in all, this is a strange film, where it seems to be autumn all year round, perhaps a reminder of the protagonist's ageing and loneliness. The themes are dark but handled lightly enough to be slightly comic. Shroom shroom.
