Wonder Woman

Comic Action Adventure Fantasy

Diana, the Princess of the Amazons, leaves her home to fight a war to end all wars, whilst discovering her full powers and true destiny.

This impressive initial outing of one of the most iconic of female superheroes thoroughly entertains as a coherent origin story. While the highly-choreographed fight scenes, striking visual style and (the many) gratuitous slow-motion sequences are to be expected from this calibre of superhero film, what's more interesting is the fish-out-of-water examination into what it means to be a woman in a man's world. It's filled with heart and humour, and despite a clunky and derailing third act, there's still so much to enjoy from this instalment of comic book royalty. Justice is wonderful.
